Job Purpose

Reporting to the Production Stage Manager, the Stage Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all consoles and production stage equipment that supports events in the Club Regent Event Centre. This position also performs maintenance of all audio, video, projection, theatrical and lighting systems utilized by the Club Regent Event Centre and Jags banquet room.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure all production elements are in place for stage performances at the Club Regent Event Centre and Jags Banquet room.
  • Assist with stage set up and tear down.
  • Work directly with third party support services and other staff involved in stage, banquet/events and other live productions at the Event Centre/Jags banquet room.
  • Liaise and work directly with entertainers and prepare contractor attendance lists as required.
  • Provide theatrical lighting technical support to all events.
  • Provide technical and operational support for audio and video services to all events.
  • Coordinate with entertainer audio/visual requirements.
  • Provide insight to Production Stage Manager into programming requirements of audio/visual systems using Crestron software.
  • Provide technical support for audio/video and communication (both wired and wireless systems), during Event Centre and Jags banquet space shows.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance of automated systems (e.g. Gala, Raynock, Crestron & Luttron) as directed by Production Stage Manager.
  • Ensure all storage rooms, equipment, public (e.g. Theatre, pre-function area) & back of house areas are consistently kept in a neat and orderly fashion through a regular inspection schedule 
  • Perform appropriate cleaning, repairs and maintenance as scheduled by the Production Stage Manager.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance as prescribed through the preventative maintenance program for Event Centre equipment. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations for purchases.
  • Clean, maintain and organize work area.
  • Maintain, track and recommend inventory/supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts & reconciles discrepancies to ensure appropriate levels of materials relative to business levels.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to customer inquiries as required during events.
  • Maintain a visible presence to guests and staff, model effective approaches and communications in customer staff relations.
  • Complete post event log for all events in a timely manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Primary Qualifications

•An Electronics certificate or diploma, complemented by training in stage management and technical production with practicum experience.

•Minimum two years’ experience in the following:

    • audio mixing technical support plus AVB or DANTE knowledge
    • theatrical lighting support plus Art-Net and sACN knowledge
    • video switching, patching and display support, plus HD-BaseT Knowledge

•Excellent stage knowledge and technical expertise.

•Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

•Excellent electronic troubleshooting knowledge.

•Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook).

•Ongoing professional development is required to stay current with changes in the profession.

•Ability to implement and configure network infrastructure for production assets.

Secondary Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of wiring diagram schematics is an asset.
  • Intermediate lighting plot understanding is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of musical instruments (eg. Usage and maintenance) and types of ensembles is an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge with lighting consoles, audio consoles, video switchers is an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge with ENG camera is an asset.
  • Scissor lift license is considered an asset.  Training/ certification will be provided through MBLL

Vacation
