Position Summary

Cambrian College’s Academic Success and Continuous Learning Department has an immediate requirement for a Continuing Education Development Officer, on a casual “on call” basis, up to 24 hours per week.   (Flexibility in scheduling is required for this role).

Duties and Responsibilities

Cambrian College’s Continuing Education Development Officer is responsible for:

  • The development, growth and quality of courses and programs delivered using technology as well as the development of courses that support specific projects being delivered using technology
  • Leading and directing all activities associated with new continuing education product development
  • Overseeing the delivery of courses using OntarioLearn
  • Identifying external opportunities for Cambrian to contract for the development of web-based and face to face courses
  • Ensuring that all documentation associated with contract work is complete and accurate
  • Creating and maintaining the budget for each contract, ensuring that College revenue is maximized
  • Providing consulting expertise to content writers on curriculum and instructional design to ensure courses are designed to meet the needs of a variety of learner and delivery methods following the requirements of the contract
  • Establishing annual targets for all Continuing education activity and, working with associated College personnel taking appropriate action to achieve targets
  • Engaging in the OntarioLearn annual planning process and ensuring that Cambrian College courses are listed. 
  • Identifying new opportunities for the growth of Continuing Education at Cambrian.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Three-year postsecondary diploma or degree. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an education setting, including the development of course manuals/schedules in instructional/curriculum design
  • Ability to apply educational technology and distance learning principles 
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures and demonstrate critical thinking
  • Excellent record keeping skills 
Additional Assets/Preferred:
  • Additional training in graphic design, data analysis or marketing is considered an asset. 
  • Experience in the development of budgets is an asset
