Job Purpose

Reporting to Shift Supervisor, Casino Bank, the Bank Cashier is responsible for performing monetary exchange and prize payouts for guests while providing exceptional customer service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Check memo board for any general Casino information related to the Cage, such as daily tour groups, counterfeit currency, new or modifications to procedures, etc.
  • Check U.S currency exchange rate.
  • Count float, which includes verifing amounts, signing slips and documenting bait money.
  • Prepare to provide customer service by ensuring work area is well stocked, equipment is operational and log into required system(s).
  • Check all bills to ensure authenticity.
  • Sell, exchange and/or redeem all casino gaming products according to all applicable procedures.
  • Provide prompt, friendly customer service – smiling and open and closing greetings.
  • Pay out winnings which may include printing cheques within specified cashier limits. Secure authorization to pay out winnings over cashier limit.
  • Prepare for adds/decreases of cash/cash equivalents, verify amounts and sign.
  • Identify and process STRs (Suspicious Transaction Reports), LCT (Large Cash Transaction) reports, CDR (casino Disbursement Report),  F/X Report (Foreign Currency Transaction Ticket Report) and ROFR (Receipt of Funds Report). Notify appropriate individuals as required.
  • Follow all Manitoba Lotteries policies, compliance regulations and procedures.
  • Provide facility, promotional information and gaming instructions on Bingo, , Touch Screen, Slot Machines and Horseracing games to customers.
  • Maintain versa self-serve machines.
  • Place all paperwork, bills, loose coin, US currency and any cash equivalents in the float bag. Prepare and drop float bag.
  • Generate reports, verify all transactions have been entered on report.
  • Perform end of night duties, systems logged off, equipment cleaned and garbage empty.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Primary Qualifications

  • Excellent math skills to perform accurate calculations and counts are required.
  • Basic skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) are an asset.
  • The incumbent must attend, remain current and receive a passing mark on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) training. Training is provided on the job.
  • Six months experience in a customer service-related industry is required.
  • One year experience in cash handling and balancing is a requirement.
  • Four to eight months of on-the-job learning is required to fully understand the business, all systems, policies, procedures, processes and the expectations of the position.
  • The core competencies for this position include achieving quality results, adaptability/managing change, communication, customer service, decision making and problem solving, integrity and building trust, teamwork and cooperation and valuing diversity. These competencies are deemed important for the success of the position and organization.

Secondary Qualifications

  • Bilingual (French/English) language skills.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Previous cash handling experience with the ability to handle large cash transactions.
