Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Technical Lead – Server is responsible for leading all functions related to technical planning, design, configuration, integration, operation, and support of ITS infrastructure services including server hardware, storage, operating systems, directory/email services, and virtualization technologies. The position leads aspects of the technology infrastructure program, provides specialized expertise including Tier III support across the enterprise, supports the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of critical server components and assists in maintaining technical projects and optimizing team and technical resources. Job Responsibilities
Activity 1: Server Infrastructure Service Design
- Design and lead the implementation and integration of server infrastructure systems. Apply Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and methodology to ensure effective solution design.
- Develop and maintain multi-year technology roadmaps for server technology infrastructure.
- Synchronize technical initiatives across Platform and Product teams, optimizing team and technical resources and support Supervisor, Technology Services in continuous improvements aligned with goals and standards set within ITS.
- Participate as the senior technical resource on project teams.
- Design, draft, and maintain system and infrastructure documentation, including build, configuration, and recovery. Design server infrastructure components and deliver projects on budget, on time, and in scope.
Activity 2: Infrastructure Service Delivery
- Manage server infrastructure systems, including capacity, firmware/software releases, system configuration, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and document Tier III incidents. Provide internal IT support. Escalate to external service providers as required.
- Provide guidance and support to technical teams on maintaining infrastructure systems and integration.
- Assist in identifying the root cause of problems and consequently prevent incidents to the Service Desk.
- Maintain system documentation, including build, configuration, and recovery.
- Create and modify procedures and standards as required.
- Recommend and make adjustments to production systems to improve and maintain service levels and support teams with implementation.
- Schedule and execute System Change Requests.
- Backup/recover organizational services/systems in a timely manner as dictated by recovery objectives and document all actions and resolutions.
Activity 3: Capacity & Availability Monitoring and Analysis
- Monitor, gather, maintain, and analyze capacity and availability for all network infrastructure systems.
- Develop strategies for enhancements to ensure the organizational computing environment maintains optimum availability and capacity.
Activity 4: Product Research and Inventory Management
- Investigate infrastructure requirements, research new products and solutions, and provide product and pricing recommendations.
- Participate in product selection and complete purchase requisitions.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process.
- Participate in support agreement and license renewal process.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Primary Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized degree or a two-year college diploma in Computer Science or similar discipline or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
- A minimum of nine years’ experience in an IT support and service delivery role supporting enterprise class systems and applications.
- Proven project coordination experience.
- Proven experience in superior customer service delivery and support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook).
- Have and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License and access to a reliable vehicle.

- Satisfactory work performance in the preceding twelve (12) months is a requirement. Attendance rate will be a factor in the pre-screening process.
Secondary Qualifications
- Demonstrated record of continuing networking education and certifications. Committed to continuous education and recertification to maintain professional certifications and keep current with evolving networking technologies, trends, and threats.
- Bilingual French/English language skills are an asset.
