Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the Retention Specialist supports clients after they secure employment by providing ongoing job coaching and retention support. This role is responsible for maintaining regular contact with clients, verifying employment outcomes, and ensuring required documentation is collected in accordance with funder guidelines. The retention specialist also supports pre-employment programming through workshop coordination and facilitation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients in the post-employment phase, providing ongoing support to promote job retention
  • Conduct regular check-ins to verify employment status, address challenges, and re-engage clients as needed
  • Collect and document employment verification information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program requirements
  • Identify and connect clients to internal and external supports to help overcome employment barriers
  • Collaborate with team members to support clients in maintaining or securing new employment opportunities
  • Facilitate employment-related workshops and assist in developing training materials
  • Provide customer service through the resource centre, including job search support and responding to inquiries
  • Maintain accurate records in case management systems and support client financial assistance requests where applicable

Qualifications

  • 2 year post secondary Diploma in career and work counselling, social services, human services, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting individuals with employment services, job search, or career development
  • Experience in client retention, job coaching, or post-employment support
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations and individuals facing employment barriers
  • Knowledge of labour market trends and community resources
  • Proficiency with case management systems, Microsoft Office, and virtual platforms
  • Workshop facilitation experience and ability to develop training materials
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage a high caseload effectively
