Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director, Strategic Enrolment, the International Admissions Advisor is responsible for the processing of post-secondary program applications, advising applicants on processes, and connecting prospective students with the International Recruitment team.
The International Admissions Advisor will draft and propose various communications throughout the admission process to assist with applicant conversion, retention, and student support. Working with team members from across the college, the incumbent will propose, advise and assist on new admission updates to the website, email communications, and other various communication mediums.
The incumbent provides information and communicates with prospective students, applicants, influencers, and other stakeholders regarding a broad range of admissions related question/topics.
The incumbent is expected to be the subject and credential expert on admissions for international students, including complex or non-routine issues. The incumbent will assist with process improvement by reviewing, documenting and proposing possible efficiencies.
The incumbent will effectively track, collect data and provide reports to contribute to maximizing international student enrolment and retention, maximizing Strategic Mandate Agreement goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Document Review & Application Processing

  • Evaluates documentation needed for admission purposes to determine eligibility and makes independent admission decisions based on admission policies and procedures. Documentation can include:  International transcripts, International test results, International credentials, International immigration documents, language test scores
  • Ensures all international applications received are processed efficiently to enhance and meet enrolment targets, including sending alternate offers, referring exceptional cases to leadership, and prioritizing diversity applications.
  • Maintains knowledge of all academic program offerings at the College, including intake status of each program/intake. Regularly reviews the enrolment reports to ensure targets are being met for each academic program.
Communication, Conversion, Retention
  • Daily communication with prospects, applicants, agents, and various other stakeholders.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of international student conversion and retention strategies and communications.
  • Admissions advising for prospective students and applicants.  This may involve advising on the best choice of program under a given circumstance, advising on possible alternatives and provides guidance to prospective students, parents, agents, and other stakeholders regarding admissions policies, application status (if applicable), and other available resources.
  • Providing specific admissions information to agents, students, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assists in the regular review of website content relate to admissions, as well as college guides, offer letters & communications, and internal documentation.
Process Improvement & Review
  • Creating, updating, and reviewing process related documentation and ensuring the Enrolment Services Wiki is current.
  • Regular review of processes and policies to ensure maximum enrolment and department efficiency. 
  • Assists as needed for International Application System updates.
  • Working with team members on special projects & processes including: Testing, system implementation, transfer credits (if applicable), international check in events, etc.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2 year diploma in Office Administration, Business, Social Studies, Humanities, International Education or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a related field
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement when making decisions, and maintaining confidentiality is essential
  • Ability to manage large volumes of information, meeting deadlines, works well under pressure, multitasking in a fast paced environment
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word
  • Experience using cloud based Student Information system (ie. Banner, PeopleSoft) is an asset
