Position Summary

Cambrian Colleges Hanson Venture Lab requires a Partnership Coordinator on a two-year contract basis in accordance with the Initiatives/Opportunities language of the Support Staff Collective Agreement starting May 2025. 

Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Director, Cambrian R&D, and maintaining a close working relationship with the Director, Alumni and Development, the incumbent will lead the development, delivery, and growth of programming within the Lab while simultaneously supporting alumni and donor engagement initiatives. Other key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Collaborates with the college community to integrate entrepreneurial content into curricular and co-curricular activities, leveraging insights from alumni and donors to enhance programming relevance and impact.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of the Lab and Alumni Department's online presence, including a landing page, social media channels, event calendars, and blog posts. Content includes showcasing alumni and donor stories, event highlights, and links to relevant resources and partners.
  • Oversees financial and operational administration of entrepreneurship grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funder and college policies, while also proactively seeking new funding opportunities through government grants, industry sponsorships, and corporate partnerships.
  • Cultivates external relationships with funders, local and regional entrepreneurs, sponsors, members of the Ontario Collaborative Innovation Network (OCIN), other post-secondary institutions, private accelerators and incubators, and municipal and provincial government agencies.
  • Represents Cambrian College by speaking at external partner panels, judging entrepreneurship competitions, and participating in community events to enhance the profile of the Lab and the college.
  • Recruits and manages a network of volunteer mentors and advisors, including alumni, donors and industry professionals, to guide entrepreneurs and facilitate workshops and events.
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive internal and external communications and marketing plan for the Lab and Alumni Department, aligned with Cambrian’s brand guidelines and in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Oversees and delivers Cambrian’s annual events, like the annual Student Innovation Challenge competition, including identifying and soliciting sponsorship from alumni and industry partners, ensuring sponsor benefits are executed, and engaging stakeholders in the competition.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have a three-year postsecondary diploma or equivalent in Business, Commerce, Marketing Communications, Public Relations or a related field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in business ownership or supporting entrepreneurs in launching and growing their businesses.
  • Strong ability to work independently while effectively multi-tasking, prioritizing, and organizing workload in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with quick analytical and creative thinking to address diverse and complex challenges. Proactively identifies opportunities and recommends innovative solutions to meet departmental and entrepreneurial needs.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including expertise in email platforms, word processing, internet research, and spreadsheet software. Advanced skills in Excel or similar tools are considered a strong asset. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems or project management tools is also beneficial.

Additional Assets/Preferred:
  • Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams, with experience managing or mentoring students
