Position Summary
Cambrian College’s Teaching and Learning Innovation Hub requires an individual, on a one-year secondment basis to fulfill the role of Educational Developer as part of the Hub team. The secondment would begin mid-August 2022 and end in June 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitating orientations for new faculty each semester
- Engaging new full-time faculty in the Teaching Excellence Program
- Organizing teaching workshops and similar activities
- Creating asynchronous pedagogical tips and instructions (e.g., through videos, podcasts, online blog posts, or in other forms)
- Mentoring faculty to enhance teaching practice
- Supporting the development of SOTL research projects and proposals
- Coordinating Study Week and May/June PD sessions
- Supporting course development, design, delivery, and teaching practices for in-person, virtual, hybrid, hyflex, and online course deliveries
Qualifications
Required:
- A Master’s degree in Education or equivalent field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
- Three years of teaching at the postsecondary level in a variety of delivery models.
- Three years of experience in curriculum development including course outlines, content, assessment strategies, and active learning strategies.
- Knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL), AODA compliance, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strategies for the design and delivery of post-secondary education.
- Ability to apply human learning theory to the design and delivery of postsecondary courses in a student-centred environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technologies, including in-class media presentation systems, learning management systems, and other relevant classroom technologies.
Additional Assets:
- Previous experience designing and delivering fully online asynchronous courses.
- Instructional Design experience.
